The McClintic Underground Mining Vehicle has been equipped with four wheel, four piston per caliper in-house machined disc brakes. Using Ford ¾ ton rotors and brake pads, these hydraulic assist brakes really grab hold of our heavy duty vehicle. Sealed wet brake options are still available.
In 2008, the repair process of a complete long wall leg system began. Major damage to the cylinder stages, pistons, glands, main tubes, and fluid transfer/control systems were determined to be a compilation of problems needed to be resolved. The complete leg cylinder was then redesigned, researched, and necessary hard-parts manufactured at our facility. To date over 200 cylinders have been assembled, tested, and delivered to our customer, with a 0% major failure rate and a total of 7 cylinder reseals due to rod damage from debris in 6 years of near continuous operation!
SUBMERGED ARC WELDING IS KEEPING THINGS STUCK TOGETHER
With the addition of a Miller Sub Arc welder nearly 6 years ago, our confidence in welding larger and more critical items has really increased. Samples of welds have been tested via x-ray and stress proving that this unit is capable of holding a weldment together under the most grueling applications.
